Overview 1. 2 OVERVIEW Cabletron Systems Fast Ethernet Switch Modules connect the ATX hub to a maximum of four individual Ethernet IEEE 802. 3 Local Area Networks (LANs). The ATX power supply provides the power for the module. An internal receive/transmit pair crossover is provided in the NOTE second connector on each port. 3H08-04 FE Switch Module 1. 4 3H08-04 FE SWITCH MODULE The 3H08-04 (Figure 1-3) provides connection for four independent 100BASE-FX LANs to the ATX backplane and packet processing engine (PPE). It includes processing circuitry for receiving and forwarding packets between the connected 100BASE-FX LANs within each module. The 3H08-04 contains several LEDs to indicate the module’s operational status. Overview The 2H23-50R is a high speed network repeater/switch device that provides four Ethernet networks and four Fast Ethernet networks (RJ21 MicroLANs, CONN 1 through CONN 4) and two slots (5 and 6) for optional Fast Ethernet Interface Modules. Overview When Auto-Negotiation is supported at both ends of a link, the two devices dynamically adjust to full or half duplex operation based on the maximum capability that can be reached between the two devices.
